The Fallacy of Premature Optimization

Here is an interesting article I just came across by Randall Hyde on The Fallacy of Premature Optimization.

I thought this observation was funny, since it directly smacks down a recent Coding Horror article:

Observation #6: Software engineers have been led to believe that their time is more valuable than CPU time; therefore, wasting CPU cycles in order to reduce development time is always a win. They've forgotten, however, that the application users' time is more valuable than their time.

It’s always fun to read something that makes you question your assumptions.
